KIKI ART

New beginnings on a Friday and my weekly DIGI G&G (Giveaway)

Hello!!

It is Friday and I have a long week-end ahead because here in Canada we celebrate Labour Day on Monday. So, I know I will have a lot of work ahead with the little creatures running around the house. How are you? How are you getting ready for these short holiday?

I have been quite busy this week but that is not new,  since  I continue getting “organized”…. and no!,  it is not Procrastination! (I used to do that) But now I am much better because I have no choice. :) Now I really need those lists and folders to get things sorted out. Below you will see an old folder that I altered in to a new one.  For many  reasons, it  made me think of new beginnings and how wonderful they are so I decided to made them the topic of my DIGI giveaway today and added a “Clip-art” that you can also take with you from me with all my love to you.

I love altering and recycling things with pretty paper and ribbons. And this folder was “prettyfied” – I know I made up that word :) -  with the paper from the JARDIN Collection Cerco & Cia G (has glitter on it) and Kiki ARt Ribbons (out of Stock for now).

The tag was very easy to make… just added some ribbon around an old cardstock piece I had and “voila”!!

I want to say HELLO to the readers who came from FREE DIGITAL STAMPS!!! and a special hug to Alison that, together with her team, do a fantastic job in gathering a lot of  information and making it available for anybody that reads their blog.  Alison is having a special Fundraser at her site… please go visit her and see what is all about HERE!

And now… the freebies of this week!! A DIGI G&G and a CLIP-ART G&G (that matches the paper line of Cerco & Cia from KIKI ART Jardin Collection)

AND this one… great for HIBRID Scrapbooking because you can use it with the KIKI ART Jardin Collection printed papers:

I hope you like them and please, please, please… give me feedback on the quality of the images as I am trying to improve the settings and the size for the near future… any “technical” comments are more than welcome!!

Have a great week-end and  enjoy those last Summer BBQs!!!

We have a winner!!! and the DIGI-giveaway of the week!

Hola!

I am so happy I searched in to the SPAM folder last night  because I found a few entries for the challenge I proposed to you last week.  How exciting!!! So the winner is: MICHELLE! This is what she did and I love it all… the work of art, the quote and that even has Kiki Art product in it!  She also made a little tutorial that I have attached for you, in case you want to do it, too.  I have kept the exact same wording from her e-mail. Isn’t she amazing? Thanks again Michelle.

Challenge by Kiki #1 - Artist: Michelle

This is what she wrote on her e-mail:

"I have been wanting to create something for my scrap room and so I dived in
and created this altered Corkboard using the Quote: Each day is a gift!!
I used some paint stain for the outside edges of the corkboard wall organizer.
I added the fun tape Antologia Jardin to a chipboard heart and added a charm with a rhinestone.
I used embossing powder on the burgundy butterfly using the same paper as the pink and white butterfly from the Carazon Paper pack Collection.
To soften the square at the top of the corkboard wall hanging organizer I arched the pink & white paper.
I created the flower with fussy cutting the velvet heart from the Carazon Paper pack collection.
I used Basic Grey pearls for the center.
I used the Martha Stewart doily lace edge punch on the inside paper on the corkboard.
I used Smooch Spritz in Log cabin for the misting background.
I added a little Smooch spritz in vanilla to the letters to soften the black
vinyl letters and to add some bling.
Thank you for inspiring me to create something for my Scrapbook wall!
I hope I was able to inspire you too!
Have a blessed night!"
Michelle

The weekend starts soon! This morning, when I dropped the kids at the daycare,  I organized a few play-dates to make the most of what is left of the Summer.  I know that I am still (and will continue) whining about how short it is!!! But I can’t help it: I LOVE SUMMER and don’t want it to end!!!.   Last weekend I have the visit of a friend and her husband and thanks to them I got to see the night of my own city and I took the kids with me.  Isn’t it funny how you take for granted nice things you have just minutes away from you and only get to see them when someone from out of town takes an interest?.  Shame on me!!!!

We went to a bar in Downtown Montreal where while you eat you have a live band playing Jazz…  My kiddos loved it and now they want to go again, yeah! Right! That is not happening every day. Here are a few pictures of the “performance” (both of the band and my kids).

And last but not least I have a new KIKI G&G (Grab and Go) Digi Stamp for you. I hope you like it and PLEASE send me an image of what you did with it so I can post it here next week. THANK YOU!!!   (send to fun@kiki-art.com)  I will be checking the SPAM box this time for sure, too!

Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to leave me a message!!!

Hola!

This week is filled with creativity  as I am creating kits and projects that will become classes for future events. There is one great event approaching quite fast… yeahhhh!!! The Crop and Cruise Scrapbooking cruise for Canadians in November 2010. I will be going as an instructor and I am very excited  about the whole thing!  I will do a whole post with information (may be more) about it very soon.

This past Monday, Tuesday and yesterday I awaited for the entries of the challenge I suggested to you last week, but may be It was too hard or not clear, so this time I am going to offer you an easier challenge.  Pick a quote  you like and post it as a message explaining why you like it here and I will choose a lucky winner for a  set of Kiki Art FUN TAPES from all the entries. Deal? You have until next week Wednesday to participate.

Do you know how much I love pink? a lot lot lot… there was a time that I hated it but now is eternal endless love and therefore I am finding myself scrapbooking with it to much.  I don’t want you to get bored so may be this is the last pink you will see from me in the next…. let’s say… month? ha ha ha … ok, let’s see it.  It is a page I am using to decorate my Creative Room and it has my baby in it.   The flowers embellishing it are all hand-made, one has been made by Karla UREA (she send it to me as a gift!!! isn’t she sweet?, with her card for the CARD exchange (organized at the Kiki ART Spanish BLOG) and the other two were made by me.  You will see the little photo-tutorial below.

I used gray translucent fabric to add some style to the page.

The flowers are made out of the same fabric shown above. You can use a stapler or sewing to fix it.

That is all for today and I hope you don’t miss my post tomorrow because I will have the freeby of the week… which is going to be very sweeeet. ;)

Have a great day!

Rain keeps falling on my head… la la la la la and weekly freebie

Hello world!!!

In Montreal has been raining since yesterday and  I   L O V E D  IT!!!   I think is great for the plants and the grass. Plus,  we can not complain about the great summer we are having.  well…  don’t be mad at me for saying that, I am not jinxing it!!! Anyway…  we don’t have that much left of this summer anyway… buahhhhhhh.

And why am I talking about the rain? well, rain is usually associated with difficult times and I like to think that I am at the end of one of those… I finally  feel that I am starting to catch my breath and to have a clearer picture of where I want to go and how to get there.  The journey is not even close to be over and I know there is still a lot of work ahead to be done, but I am taking one day at a time and  surrounded by great friends so I know I am OK.

There are more readers in the blog… THANK YOU!!!! and of course I am sticking to my promise of doing a DIGITAL giveaway each week: I hope you like the RAIN related DIGI Stamp of today’s freebie (just click on it and “grab it” with my blessings).  What do you think about the quote I chose for it?  The image you see of this little girl belongs to the “WATER Rain Paper Collection” of Kiki Art Winter 2010 but it is also part of a new product I  have designed for new Kiki Art goodies to be revealed soon… it will all match up!!!

Did you know that all the images of people I draw / design are based on real people? this girl holding the umbrella is my little niece ANITA… If you keep following my blog and Kiki Art’s blog you will find her in many of the layouts I create.  I love my nieces and nephews!!! When they were little I was able to spoil them more, now they are all grown up and I only get to read their Facebook from far away,  I hope they know I love them and  we will get to see each other soon.

This weekend there was a lot of creating going on around my home. I am starting to learn how to get organized to do layouts, cards and projects even though I also have to run a business and a home ( kids + puppy dog)  in three languages… while trying to keep a normal  life in the middle of all that.   I have asked my more experienced professional designer friends how they do it… and most of them replied the key  is to  “JUST MAKE THE TIME FOR IT!!!”.  What do you think?  What is your secret to schedule moments to play with your papers and paints?… I would love to know how you find the time to sit down and create your projects !!!

I now leave you with a little Sneak peek of one of the Layouts I created with the Kiki Art Paper line offered in the Scrapbook Magazine: SUNNY BAY.  Guess who is in the picture?

Day #2 of Sneak peeks

This next collection is very dear to my heart (well… they all are!!) but when I designed this one, I went through tones of pictures I have collected over the years.  I have always loved Halloween but never had the true rush and excitement until I saw my children get ready for such a meaningful occasion: their goal: Get as much candy as they possible can, in the least amount of time, by just looking “cute”. My Goal: Get as many pictures as the batteries of my camera and darkness would allow me, while helping my kids get as much candy as we all possible can. Who do you think ends up eating all that collected candy after all?

I dedicate each character of this line to my son and daughter and their friends, “le gang”: Vincent, Jonathan, Edward, Kieran, Evelyn and Shannon… Oh! How I love my children beyond words and I will hate having to leave them next week to go to CHA, but being honest, I am so looking forward to that!!

This post also has a freebie for you! I hope you like it and let me know what you think so far…. Remember to visit the blogs of the fab team of girls that make everything possible in the behind the scenes of Kiki Art… they are all showing different things.

Today I have again something for you! For those dog lovers out there, the little Firefighter helper is out for grabs. I agree with what his sign says! Don’t you?

I hope you are enjoying the sneaks… and remember to let me know what you think!

Tomorrow we have more on the third collection… so come back.

And the Sneak Peeks had begun!

This week is being a great ride for me. Before CHA I have so much to do and haven’t even begin with a few of the tones of items in my list.  Today the different Kiki Art Design team member blogs are showing Sneak Peeks of Kiki Art new collections… I always like to share the excitement with the people that are helping me present the products to you so that is why we are doing it that way. But I forgot I am also part of my own team, right?

So, no more waiting … here it is the first Sneak peek!!!

And I decided to put an exclusive Sneak peek plus a gift for you… is a digital stamp that you can grab and use.  Please, just tell people where you got it and send them back to our blogs and website, most important make sure you tell your local Scrapbook Store you really “need” this new Kiki Art collections… I can assure you, you and them won’t be disappointed!!!

See you tomorrow with more!!

How to make a prince and a princess…

Hola!

I love the daycare where my children go… it is big enough to have all the necessary  equipment and space for the children but is small enough that everybody knows my kids, they feel at home there and that is very important to me. The daycare has a pedagogic department that has many cool programs they run through the year. For example… last week it was the week of the mother, the week before of the dinosaur and they plan their activities around the theme they pick for each week.

Since Monday, the topic was ROYALTY and today, they had to go dressed up as monarchs. From my point of view they don’t need the costume, since they already are my Prince and Princess… but I didn’t really mind joining in the fun of dressing them up a little today, kind of exciting actually :) ….

Trying to stay still so "mama" can take the picture

Close up

Their attire had no diamonds, gold or high end textiles imported from an exotic land… nop! I didn’t want to spend to much money in something that was going to last 5 minutes… so, here is the little crowns I made for them  with… guess what? yes, KIKI ART products!!!!…   My daughter loved it and off she went to climb a tree!!!… (such a NON delicate princess she is!!)

Long time no see!!

Hi there!! I have just updated the Kiki Art blogs… It is a bit of work to do postings in three languages but it is worth it to see the results of the interaction and giving the possibility for each language and culture to have their own space.

I know I have been bad… not posting for two weeks…  it is not acceptable, but here I am now and with the things I have to share with you I hope you will forgive me soon. :)

First… the winners for the KIKI ART BLOG HOP:

1. Lizette (Frame)

2. Maryse Dubeau (altered canvas set)

3. Elena (Mini-Album) – I have changed it in to an album that can be filled with your own pictures because I wasn’t sure you have kids or not. If yes… let me know.

Now… on to other news, I hope you have been checking on the KIKI ART blogs and participated in the fun survey we are doing about the animals… something very cute will come out of there… I promise.

And… some re-cap from NSD, I know that it seems far far away… but I have to share with you at least a little tinny bit of all the fun I got with my friends. I have a group of very close friends, her names are Marie France (She is a permanent member of my KIKI ART design team), Janic and Stephanie. We have been friends since we got together by accident at a meeting for mothers of young babies, we started to scrapbook together and now… I couldn’t live without them!! I LOVE YOU GIRLS!!!

The thing is that my husband wasn’t in town for NSD , I don’t have any family in Canada and I didn’t have anybody to take care of my kids for the whole day, so… their husbands took turns and they played the part of temporary custodians for my kids so I can go out with my favorite gals and have fun Scrapbooking for a whole day!! Isn’t that the sweetest thing men can do?, not just for their women but for the friend of their spouses??!!!… I love this guys just as much as a I love my girlfriends!! THANK YOU PASCAL and THANK YOU DAVID!!!

Kiki Art did a giveaway and I had a chance to have a picture taken with the winner and with Nathalie, the organizer of such a successful event… she does it every year with her Store “SCRAPBOOK CENTRALE” and every year she has waiting lists because people come from all over Quebec to attend, is wonderful!

The owner of Scrapbook Centrale, Kiki (me) and Nancy, the winner

Marie France's gift to us... each tin has goodies to eat while we Scrapbook, isn't she amazing??

My favorite girls!!! showing the gift Marie France Handmade for us!!

Well… I have a lot more to share but I should keep some more for my next posts… Keep coming and let me know what you think!!

Muchos besos!

It is a great day for all of us at the Kiki Art team because is our first BLOG HOP. We have many “firstssss”since we have just begun and I hope you have liked what you have seen so far … we will be bringing more to you!!!.

May be another day I will tell you why I have created Kiki Art, but it has a lot to do with helping people and caring about “the other” and because of that our First BLOG HOP aims to create awareness about some of the different organizations around the world that help make this a better place to live. Each team member was asked to feature an organization  they liked and I have had a hard time choosing one because I have many organizations I admire and the majority of them have to do with children, women and immigration issues.  I want to mention two of them, very important to me:

ABRIR LA PUERTA is an organization located in Argentina (the country where I was born). They give poor marginal children the proper  space and atmosphere so they can play and be children again (something that is many times denied to them). The type of service this program offers  might seem simple to you but is very important! Teachers play with the kids,  care for them and their families and they manage to return a smile in to the little tiny faces that need it so much. I promise I will tell you more about them because Kiki Art has been playing with them last year and we plan to get you involve in these matters soon, and then you can contribute with Kiki Art by making a difference in this world.

Here are some pictures of the teachers and the children playing and being happy. This is how it should be everyday for them!

A great group of kids and teachers learning to be happy

Getting "dressed up" for fun

Now, closer to home in Montreal, Canada. This next August I will be riding a bicycle to support  the Canadian Society of Multiple Sclerosis. This terrible disease has affected many women.  I have already lost a friend to it and I have two very close ones suffering from it right now. But  because there is always hope and research is extremely important we need to open a light and smile knowing that things can only get better.  Come back to read more about this too, as I will be fund raising for “La Societe canadienne de la sclerose en plaques“  and for my friend who is going to undergo surgery in Poland this next summer and together with our kids we will be bicycling our summer off for her!! (we need to get fit for the big event in August).

The following pictures shows you what lays ahead.

Me, trying to look pretty while avoiding to have an accident and sucking extra-belly in.

My little one... I really don't know what she was doing in this picture but she loved her helmet and wanted to sleep with it that night.

And I haven’t forgotten about the prices!!! For the  giveaway in my blog I have three of them.  True to my love of diversity each project has a completely different style. I will continue uploading the pictures between today and tomorrow.

  • a Handmade Childrend’s story book designed and illustrated by me.  – Very Whymsical and “cute” Style
  • Decorated Canvas  – Free-Artsy Style

It is perfect for a teenage girl’s room with lots of pink and still some more space in the canvas to continue experimenting and adding embellishments to make it personal.  The wording in Spanish is and invitation to live life at its fullest, it says:  BAILA (Dance) – VIVE LIBRE Y FELIZ (live free and happy) – AMA sin miedos (LOVE without any fear)

  • a Small Frame (for boys with lots of blue and green) – Clean and Simple Style

In order to potentially have some of these things , leave me a comment in this post!! And remember to come back after the 4th of May to see who the winners are.

Thank you for stopping by my blog…  you still have a lot to see!! All these links have so many ideas, beautiful art work and check them out, I love these girls who have also become my good friends in this wonderful journey I have started since I founded Kiki Art.

HAPPY SCRAPBOOKING INTERNATIONAL DAY and come back soon!!

What a week!! it makes me feel alive…

It is already Wednesday and I feel like I am only starting… there is so much in my life and I am happy to be able to share it here. Some of these things are…

At Kiki Art: I had a great time at Scrapfest with Sarah this past week-end. My camera broke so I am relying in Sarah’s pictures,  I hope I can share some of my own soon but for now look at this one with my friend Bettina and this odd looking guy at the Kiki Art booth.

with my friend BETTINA (owner of the Stamp BOX) and a nice guy who started the party!

I was able to talk and have fun with amazing people who came to do our make and takes at the Kiki Art booth on Friday and Saturday.  I got energized! now I have even more ideas, dreams and sketches in my head.  What do I have on the works so far?  I am trying to finish the first KIKI ART newsletter, set up the DIGI Shop and also finilize the details of a different kind of BLOG HOP with KIKI ART the list of activities goes on…

My Field Research: finally I was able to set up the BLOG for it and I wish for EVERYBODY to participate in it… here is the address: bykiki.ca/research.  The information I am getting so far is incredibly interesting!!!  PLEASE be part of it … and there is a juicy price at the end of each month for those who share their thoughts!!! so no excuses left!!

At home: still trying to get my puppy to relax and stop chewing the furniture!! My home is a box full of crazy chirping birds and I LOVE IT!

I am starting to get used to post more often… so I know I will see you very soon!!
