We have a winner!!! and the DIGI-giveaway of the week!

Hola!

I am so happy I searched in to the SPAM folder last night  because I found a few entries for the challenge I proposed to you last week.  How exciting!!! So the winner is: MICHELLE! This is what she did and I love it all… the work of art, the quote and that even has Kiki Art product in it!  She also made a little tutorial that I have attached for you, in case you want to do it, too.  I have kept the exact same wording from her e-mail. Isn’t she amazing? Thanks again Michelle.

Challenge by Kiki #1 - Artist: Michelle

This is what she wrote on her e-mail:

"I have been wanting to create something for my scrap room and so I dived in
and created this altered Corkboard using the Quote: Each day is a gift!!
I used some paint stain for the outside edges of the corkboard wall organizer.
I added the fun tape Antologia Jardin to a chipboard heart and added a charm with a rhinestone.
I used embossing powder on the burgundy butterfly using the same paper as the pink and white butterfly from the Carazon Paper pack Collection.
To soften the square at the top of the corkboard wall hanging organizer I arched the pink & white paper.
I created the flower with fussy cutting the velvet heart from the Carazon Paper pack collection.
I used Basic Grey pearls for the center.
I used the Martha Stewart doily lace edge punch on the inside paper on the corkboard.
I used Smooch Spritz in Log cabin for the misting background.
I added a little Smooch spritz in vanilla to the letters to soften the black
vinyl letters and to add some bling.
Thank you for inspiring me to create something for my Scrapbook wall!
I hope I was able to inspire you too!
Have a blessed night!"
Michelle

The weekend starts soon! This morning, when I dropped the kids at the daycare,  I organized a few play-dates to make the most of what is left of the Summer.  I know that I am still (and will continue) whining about how short it is!!! But I can’t help it: I LOVE SUMMER and don’t want it to end!!!.   Last weekend I have the visit of a friend and her husband and thanks to them I got to see the night of my own city and I took the kids with me.  Isn’t it funny how you take for granted nice things you have just minutes away from you and only get to see them when someone from out of town takes an interest?.  Shame on me!!!!

We went to a bar in Downtown Montreal where while you eat you have a live band playing Jazz…  My kiddos loved it and now they want to go again, yeah! Right! That is not happening every day. Here are a few pictures of the “performance” (both of the band and my kids).

And last but not least I have a new KIKI G&G (Grab and Go) Digi Stamp for you. I hope you like it and PLEASE send me an image of what you did with it so I can post it here next week. THANK YOU!!!   (send to fun@kiki-art.com)  I will be checking the SPAM box this time for sure, too!

Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to leave me a message!!!

Another month has gone by…

Hello again!

How are you? It seems like every time I start writing a post I begin to think about how fast time goes by. I don’t know if it is worse when I look at my children, the calendar with due dates, my puppy or my wrinkles…  Time does go really quick… but every little moment adding to my life is joyful and makes it more meaningful so I am grateful for that!

So… what has happened in my life this past month? a whole lot  of little things!! But this post will be dominated by my daughter whose birthday was last week.   She celebrated her new two years many times. First at home, at the daycare, with neighbors, family and friend and then at home again and again… she loved to blow the candles!. She got lots of presents and now is practicing how to say “TWO” when asked how old she is!

I know that the picture is not on focus... but that look saying, "GOSH... Two already... I am getting old!" is priceless.

It was the day of the cupcakes... she had one for breakfast, some others at the daycare with her friends and more on her birthday party over the weekend.

and here is the birthday girl with her cake made by her... DAD!!!! (yes, at the last minute HE asked me if he could decorate it and I just had to say yes!) Isn't he sweet? What a man wouldn't do for his little girl!!!?

Another thing that has happened is the Soccer World Cup… what a ride!! As you know I am originally from Argentina and, although I am not a big fan of soccer, I like to support the team and the colors during these events… I don’t know what  I would have done if Canada or the USA have played against Argentina because I love all three countries equally, but for now it is good I haven’t been faced with the challenge. This time the whole family dressed for the occasion, the kids painted flags and screamed with us and Samba barked at every goal our team made (but refused to dressed up saying that is already too hot here).

Here is DAD explaining little daughter the importance of cheering properly for the team!

The team of fans!! now we will have to wait 4 more years to cheer again.

With the summer and Augusto back we get to do a lot of family activities and I am loving that!!!  And Samba… our puppy is becoming more obedient and civilized… she is creating a nice bond with the kids and I am very happy about that.

There are many more things to tell but I don’t want this post to be to long so I will keep something else for next time.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!! see you around soon!

How to make a prince and a princess…

Hola!

I love the daycare where my children go… it is big enough to have all the necessary  equipment and space for the children but is small enough that everybody knows my kids, they feel at home there and that is very important to me. The daycare has a pedagogic department that has many cool programs they run through the year. For example… last week it was the week of the mother, the week before of the dinosaur and they plan their activities around the theme they pick for each week.

Since Monday, the topic was ROYALTY and today, they had to go dressed up as monarchs. From my point of view they don’t need the costume, since they already are my Prince and Princess… but I didn’t really mind joining in the fun of dressing them up a little today, kind of exciting actually :) ….

Close up

Their attire had no diamonds, gold or high end textiles imported from an exotic land… nop! I didn’t want to spend to much money in something that was going to last 5 minutes… so, here is the little crowns I made for them  with… guess what? yes, KIKI ART products!!!!…   My daughter loved it and off she went to climb a tree!!!… (such a NON delicate princess she is!!)

Back to work…

Hi my friends!!

I am back to work today since my baby has been sick and I had to take care of poor her for the past three days. Now she is ok and everything is back to normal but I have a lot of catching up to do. So… while you wait for the catching up I will  have for you later today,  I will leave you a photo I have chosen for “Projet 104 photos”.  This is a great idea from one of the Kiki Art DT members, KIM. I admire her very much, Kim is a very active woman, she does and sells her own embellishments (which are fabulous!), she created several blogs for Scrapbooking in French and she has this PROJECT 104 on her personal blog.

This is how it works, she gives you a word a day and you have to imagine that word in a photo. It is a great project for me, not just for the photo but to improve my French vocabulary. Today is “VOULOIR” which means “to want”… here is my version of it.

VOULOIR: I WANT for the sky to be my limit, I WANT to fly... I love flying because I get time to think and that feeling of freedom when I think I can go wherever I want.

I will see you later today with the winners for the KIKI ART Blog HOP (which was a success thanks to you!!), some pictures and tales from National Scrapbooking Day at Scrapbook Central in Montreal and more!! come back soon!.

Pictures selection

Today is Monday but feels like a Sunday.  It is cloudy outside,  I have the kids with me and nothing can really be done with the little ones running around… so, during nap time I decided to organize myself a little bit and select some pictures of my family to put them in to a nice scrapbook later this week.   It is funny how mothers are… I complain that I don’t have time for myself but then, when I get half an hour to do whatever I want, I choose to go over tones of images of my children. Is like I can never get enough of them! ha ha ha

Here is a picture I found myself steering at for a long time this afternoon, thinking… “she was just a baby not to long ago!!” and she is 18 months old now.

I am sure I am not alone on this motherhood pastime…please, tell me about your “bad habits” or am I the only crazy Scrapbooker  out there?  How do you select your pictures to Scrapbook? Do you have a system? What is the longest amount of time that you have been steering at a picture and why?

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
