Time to take a deep breath and savour the moment before the action begins…

Hola!  How was this past week for you?I am getting on a plane to CHA tomorrow and my life can not get any crazier (oopss!! I shouldn’t have said that!). But I am enjoying it and  I am happy that I will  get to see all my friends and participate in a few booths as I was asked to introduce some projects here and there.  Also, I will be participating on the first Canadian MEGA WORKSHOP organized by CCHA where many Canadian Manufacuturers will showcase their products while offering original classes to participants. It is going to be great!!!

Lately, to downsize my stress I have been taking  pictures, enjoying the pleasure of “clicking” my week-ends away in the presence of my children. The opportunities for great pictures offered while they behave mischievously are amazing.  I got a new camera in December and I feel I got my life back since then!!  I haven’t realized how much I missed not taking pictures with my own camera but now… I AM LOVING to be the photographer I am again!.

The image below is my dauhgter, taking a break from playing and being loud (I wonder where/who does she get it from? hi hi hi). She is a little model… look,  she has even made it to my blog’s friend Sarah today!!  THANK YOU SARAH!! you are amazing and I can’t wait to see you in LA.

Well… after this 5 minute break (without yogurt in my case) to write the blog I am off to continue with my crazy day!

Life is great!

Hola! It has been a long time since my last post and now is 2011 all of a sudden!!! What is up for today?  just my daughter’s smile and me smiling back, happy to have my family. How did you start your 2011?

It is great to be back!! see you soon.

October post!

Hello!

I know that my last post was in September so I didn’t want to go without at least one post in October.  After a busy Summer and hectic back to school I felt exhausted and decided to slow down a little bit to devote some time to my family. Don’t you feel like after Thanksgiving the year just goes flying away incredible fast?    Sometimes is good to stop just a little to get energized and go back with a lot more organization and enthusiasm, making every little task more meaningful and exciting.

Since I have my children, Halloween is a season I look forward to get ready for. I am not a fan of the candy, but the costumes, the decorations and the playful feeling of just being allowed to get silly and get away with it! Well… we have started celebrating Halloween since last week and we are enjoying every excuse to play dress up.

Here is a picture of my LOVE lady bug and Mr. Batman before they got inside their daycare and some pumpkins we carved last week (I didn’t know they could get terrible rotten after a few days of being carved so next time we will wait a bit longer… oooops)

Enjoy the celebrations!! See you soon,

New beginnings on a Friday and my weekly DIGI G&G (Giveaway)

Hello!!

It is Friday and I have a long week-end ahead because here in Canada we celebrate Labour Day on Monday. So, I know I will have a lot of work ahead with the little creatures running around the house. How are you? How are you getting ready for these short holiday?

I have been quite busy this week but that is not new,  since  I continue getting “organized”…. and no!,  it is not Procrastination! (I used to do that) But now I am much better because I have no choice. :) Now I really need those lists and folders to get things sorted out. Below you will see an old folder that I altered in to a new one.  For many  reasons, it  made me think of new beginnings and how wonderful they are so I decided to made them the topic of my DIGI giveaway today and added a “Clip-art” that you can also take with you from me with all my love to you.

I love altering and recycling things with pretty paper and ribbons. And this folder was “prettyfied” – I know I made up that word :) -  with the paper from the JARDIN Collection Cerco & Cia G (has glitter on it) and Kiki ARt Ribbons (out of Stock for now).

The tag was very easy to make… just added some ribbon around an old cardstock piece I had and “voila”!!

I want to say HELLO to the readers who came from FREE DIGITAL STAMPS!!! and a special hug to Alison that, together with her team, do a fantastic job in gathering a lot of  information and making it available for anybody that reads their blog.  Alison is having a special Fundraser at her site… please go visit her and see what is all about HERE!

And now… the freebies of this week!! A DIGI G&G and a CLIP-ART G&G (that matches the paper line of Cerco & Cia from KIKI ART Jardin Collection)

AND this one… great for HIBRID Scrapbooking because you can use it with the KIKI ART Jardin Collection printed papers:

I hope you like them and please, please, please… give me feedback on the quality of the images as I am trying to improve the settings and the size for the near future… any “technical” comments are more than welcome!!

Have a great week-end and  enjoy those last Summer BBQs!!!

We have a winner!!! and the DIGI-giveaway of the week!

Hola!

I am so happy I searched in to the SPAM folder last night  because I found a few entries for the challenge I proposed to you last week.  How exciting!!! So the winner is: MICHELLE! This is what she did and I love it all… the work of art, the quote and that even has Kiki Art product in it!  She also made a little tutorial that I have attached for you, in case you want to do it, too.  I have kept the exact same wording from her e-mail. Isn’t she amazing? Thanks again Michelle.

Challenge by Kiki #1 - Artist: Michelle

This is what she wrote on her e-mail:

"I have been wanting to create something for my scrap room and so I dived in
and created this altered Corkboard using the Quote: Each day is a gift!!
I used some paint stain for the outside edges of the corkboard wall organizer.
I added the fun tape Antologia Jardin to a chipboard heart and added a charm with a rhinestone.
I used embossing powder on the burgundy butterfly using the same paper as the pink and white butterfly from the Carazon Paper pack Collection.
To soften the square at the top of the corkboard wall hanging organizer I arched the pink & white paper.
I created the flower with fussy cutting the velvet heart from the Carazon Paper pack collection.
I used Basic Grey pearls for the center.
I used the Martha Stewart doily lace edge punch on the inside paper on the corkboard.
I used Smooch Spritz in Log cabin for the misting background.
I added a little Smooch spritz in vanilla to the letters to soften the black
vinyl letters and to add some bling.
Thank you for inspiring me to create something for my Scrapbook wall!
I hope I was able to inspire you too!
Have a blessed night!"
Michelle

The weekend starts soon! This morning, when I dropped the kids at the daycare,  I organized a few play-dates to make the most of what is left of the Summer.  I know that I am still (and will continue) whining about how short it is!!! But I can’t help it: I LOVE SUMMER and don’t want it to end!!!.   Last weekend I have the visit of a friend and her husband and thanks to them I got to see the night of my own city and I took the kids with me.  Isn’t it funny how you take for granted nice things you have just minutes away from you and only get to see them when someone from out of town takes an interest?.  Shame on me!!!!

We went to a bar in Downtown Montreal where while you eat you have a live band playing Jazz…  My kiddos loved it and now they want to go again, yeah! Right! That is not happening every day. Here are a few pictures of the “performance” (both of the band and my kids).

And last but not least I have a new KIKI G&G (Grab and Go) Digi Stamp for you. I hope you like it and PLEASE send me an image of what you did with it so I can post it here next week. THANK YOU!!!   (send to fun@kiki-art.com)  I will be checking the SPAM box this time for sure, too!

Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to leave me a message!!!

More girly layouts

Hola!

This week is filled with creativity  as I am creating kits and projects that will become classes for future events. There is one great event approaching quite fast… yeahhhh!!! The Crop and Cruise Scrapbooking cruise for Canadians in November 2010. I will be going as an instructor and I am very excited  about the whole thing!  I will do a whole post with information (may be more) about it very soon.

This past Monday, Tuesday and yesterday I awaited for the entries of the challenge I suggested to you last week, but may be It was too hard or not clear, so this time I am going to offer you an easier challenge.  Pick a quote  you like and post it as a message explaining why you like it here and I will choose a lucky winner for a  set of Kiki Art FUN TAPES from all the entries. Deal? You have until next week Wednesday to participate.

Do you know how much I love pink? a lot lot lot… there was a time that I hated it but now is eternal endless love and therefore I am finding myself scrapbooking with it to much.  I don’t want you to get bored so may be this is the last pink you will see from me in the next…. let’s say… month? ha ha ha … ok, let’s see it.  It is a page I am using to decorate my Creative Room and it has my baby in it.   The flowers embellishing it are all hand-made, one has been made by Karla UREA (she send it to me as a gift!!! isn’t she sweet?, with her card for the CARD exchange (organized at the Kiki ART Spanish BLOG) and the other two were made by me.  You will see the little photo-tutorial below.

I used gray translucent fabric to add some style to the page.

The flowers are made out of the same fabric shown above. You can use a stapler or sewing to fix it.

That is all for today and I hope you don’t miss my post tomorrow because I will have the freeby of the week… which is going to be very sweeeet. ;)

Have a great day!

Creating for my Creative space… and a challenge for you!

Hola!

I had so many visits yesterday and that made me so incredibly happy that today I felt like sharing with you something else I have created. I have my “Studio”, “Atelier”, “Office” or whatever you want to call it in the basement of my home and I have made it in to a cute place but now I want to take it to the next level… therefore I have been creating things to hang around my place.

I love quotes… they are a short way to remind you of a very simple but important fact of life which can make you become better person or inspire you in some other way, that is why I love quotes so much. I generally take some quotes from books, internet, magazines or things I remember but for my “creative place” I decided the quotes had to come from my head.  Let me share with you one that I believe is one of the most important things in my life: TO BE YOURSELF!  When I was a teenager I tried very hard to “fit in” and I think I never got there. I always felt like an ugly ducky and the world didn’t understood what I wanted or who I was.  May be that was the driving force making me travel so much.  And now, being an adult I think we are still confronted to the social pressures of blending in with the rest and I refuse to do it!!!  I know that is difficult because sometimes we don’t even know who we really are, but taking the time to think and let ourselves reflect on this is important. It is a process,  a moment in constant change and fells wonderfully.  By allowing ourselves to be just who we are, we are released  free and we can conquer new challenges.  In the end, if we are true to ourselves, the rest will follow! Don’t you think?

Here is the inspirational layout I made for my little cave with my own quote, now is inside a pink frame (of course! what other color could it be?) hanging on the wall.  It has a little bit of acrylic paint and tissue paper in it but everything else is Kiki Art.

I invite/ dare you to come up with your own unique quote for something important for you in  life and make it a work of art!!!  You can show it to me by linking it in this post or send it to me by e-mail at fun@kiki-art.com. I want to be inspired by you… and who knows? may be another giveaway will follow. I will check the entries back next Wednesday.

Rain keeps falling on my head… la la la la la and weekly freebie

Hello world!!!

In Montreal has been raining since yesterday and  I   L O V E D  IT!!!   I think is great for the plants and the grass. Plus,  we can not complain about the great summer we are having.  well…  don’t be mad at me for saying that, I am not jinxing it!!! Anyway…  we don’t have that much left of this summer anyway… buahhhhhhh.

And why am I talking about the rain? well, rain is usually associated with difficult times and I like to think that I am at the end of one of those… I finally  feel that I am starting to catch my breath and to have a clearer picture of where I want to go and how to get there.  The journey is not even close to be over and I know there is still a lot of work ahead to be done, but I am taking one day at a time and  surrounded by great friends so I know I am OK.

There are more readers in the blog… THANK YOU!!!! and of course I am sticking to my promise of doing a DIGITAL giveaway each week: I hope you like the RAIN related DIGI Stamp of today’s freebie (just click on it and “grab it” with my blessings).  What do you think about the quote I chose for it?  The image you see of this little girl belongs to the “WATER Rain Paper Collection” of Kiki Art Winter 2010 but it is also part of a new product I  have designed for new Kiki Art goodies to be revealed soon… it will all match up!!!

Did you know that all the images of people I draw / design are based on real people? this girl holding the umbrella is my little niece ANITA… If you keep following my blog and Kiki Art’s blog you will find her in many of the layouts I create.  I love my nieces and nephews!!! When they were little I was able to spoil them more, now they are all grown up and I only get to read their Facebook from far away,  I hope they know I love them and  we will get to see each other soon.

This weekend there was a lot of creating going on around my home. I am starting to learn how to get organized to do layouts, cards and projects even though I also have to run a business and a home ( kids + puppy dog)  in three languages… while trying to keep a normal  life in the middle of all that.   I have asked my more experienced professional designer friends how they do it… and most of them replied the key  is to  “JUST MAKE THE TIME FOR IT!!!”.  What do you think?  What is your secret to schedule moments to play with your papers and paints?… I would love to know how you find the time to sit down and create your projects !!!

I now leave you with a little Sneak peek of one of the Layouts I created with the Kiki Art Paper line offered in the Scrapbook Magazine: SUNNY BAY.  Guess who is in the picture?

Back to work!!!

Hi everybody!

How are you? I am recovering… after CHA, I am still exhausted but most of all I missed my children… they are little, cute and cuddly and we all needed some quality time. I had had my share of  “bubu kisses” and “nap time hugs” last week but I am still short on some more …. well… is time to go back to work and make up for lost time.  This week I will be answering e-mails and re-organizing work to come back on full speed next Monday.  Today I wanted to share with you the reason behind my silence: my babies (although my son screams that he is not a baby anymore, he will always be one for me).

Here is my little helper doing some work around the house…

Working with a smile is always more productive!

Will you help me this much when you have a girlfriend, many centuries from now?

And what is the little princess doing while all the work is being done?

Running free and wild!!! and chocolate in my face.

So… taking them back to Daycare was a difficult moment for all of us, but necessary if I wanted to get something done around the house/ my work.  I am sure all mothers out there will understand what am I talking about.

It was so hard for me to take the children back to Daycare after a lot of fun together... On Monday we got in late for their daily walk and I had a chance to see the group "marching in". Look at my little one at the end of the group... such a tinny cutie little thing. I wonder how long will she stay this "petite".

I am also eager to start sharing with you the new Kiki Art collections and some other juice stuff that I am “cooking” behind the curtains but everything will be reveal in time. And I am owing you (among so many other thing) my CHA review.  Stay connected and come back for more… you will like it!

Day #3 Kiki Art Sneak Peeks for the Summer and another Freebie

As a child, have you ever wonder how Santa Claus was able to deliver presents around the world in just one night? I think I have figured it out!! He uses the latest and most efficient system of transportation. And to prove it I have a picture of him and his dear friend Rudolph making deliveries in a remote beach near the Pacific.  Now you believe me?

I am very proud  and happy because these collections are very different and unique, specially the Christmas one.  I love to imagine the most diverse scenarios and draw them… if you could only see my sketch book (is like the diary of a crazy person). And lately I have been drawing a lot. These next 3 collections are different from the ones I have done before… the papers and alpha stickers are simple and easy to combine but the stickers and stamps… I just liberated my imagination there!!!  and I hope you will all enjoy it!

I think that many of you are liking the Freebies in some of my posts. I will try (not promise) but try… to offer you one once a week. But because this week is special you get one today too! let me know how you like it and show me what you did with it later. Grab away!

Have a great day… I will continue posting tomorrow (I kind of like it … to get the habit of posting)… I will do it more, only if you come and visit!!!
